A word from Mr. Baluku Roben Co-founder and CEO
I thank you for having chosen to read about Save Orphans Uganda through this website. You will discover that Save Orphans Uganda is committed to changing the psychosocial and economic welfare of orphans and their caretakers. The drive to start this organization came as a result of the need to work and help the needy communities in Uganda and the world at large.
It is natural to loose a parent or both and thus become an orphan yet no person is always prepared to become one. My major concern here is the injustices the orphans and widows experience in an African setting; these range from hatred, harassment, loss of property, inhumane treatment including child abuse, sexual abuse, child labour, and denial to education, health and proper nutrition. Most of these are done intentionally by genuine relatives who wish to frustrate the already desperate orphans and widows. I strongly refer to widows because globally, more men than women die leaving widows and children to fonder for themselves since the man is often the bread winner therefore more is needed to counter this situation.
It is upon this back ground that Save Orphans Uganda committed itself to bridge some of the gaps left out in ensuring that the Orphans and Widows are empowered through various avenues as prescribed in our constitution and articles of Association.
At this moment I wish to call upon all readers and responsible persons to join the fight against abuse of children and women’s rights, to ensure that the orphans access social services like Education, medical care and other human rights. It is important to remember that, it is every body’s responsibility to care for those have lost their loved ones, other vulnerable children and women such that we can fulfill the reasons why we live on this planet earth.
I thank all the people and Organizations to mention are the Members of SOU, Prof. Barbara Turechetta – Italy, Ms.Nicholsen Elizabeth - USA, Mr Oliver and Ms Sophie from UK, Child Fund International, Aware Uganda, Cream land Primary school- Kampala who have contributed to save Orphans Uganda in one way or the other; whose contribution has made SOU boost of a number of achievements in a period of two years since its birth.
