Save Orpahns of Uganda

Problem of the Question

The above Districts in Uganda have experienced a number of problems ranging from wars, Epidemics, Unemployment, which have resulted into various migrations and immigrations that altogether coupled with abject poverty have breed to high rate of; Sexual immorality, crime and drug abuse in a quest for survival.

These factors have yielded high mortality rate as a result of HIV/AIDS, death of parents during wars, and punishments resulting from crimes and drug abuse leaving many children parentless.

Other deaths have resulted from various tropical diseases and other STDS namely;

  • Cholera
  • Malaria
  • Syphilis
  • Gonorrhea
  • Bilharzias
  • Meningitis
  • Tuberculosis
  • Pneumonia
  • Reproductive deaths of mothers

These conditions have left the country with an increased number of orphans, young mothers, HIV+ people who are not attended to in regards to the basic needs. This has resulted into increased number of street children on the streets of for example Kampala with the most leading number of these related groups, who really needs attention.

Some of the problems these orphans have encountered among others include:

  1. Lack of basic needs; food, shelter, clothing, medical care and beddings.
  2. Lack of school fees and scholastic materials
  3. Lacks of belongingness, most orphans are denied rights of living and possession of property.
  • General Child abuse ranging from corporal punishments like deny to food, beating, burning and hard labor, forced sex (rape, defilement).
  • Increased drug abuse as a result of isolation, frustration and disappointments.

Basing on the above background it’s when Save the Orphans Uganda (SOU) was started to bridge the gap left for the orphans to live happily.
